If you know my husband, Levi, you know he bleeds blue and white. He’s a die-hard Gonzaga Bulldogs fan…like, “plan your wedding around March Madness” level of serious. He’s watched every game for as long as I’ve known him, and yes, I’ve learned to love the Zags too (mostly because I love him and marriage is about compromise, right?).
Here’s the thing about Gonzaga: They’ve never won a national championship. Not one. But they’re still one of the most successful programs in college basketball. Over the last two decades, they’ve made countless NCAA tournament appearances, reached multiple Final Fours, and have earned a reputation for excellence, consistency, and developing elite talent. They’re a powerhouse – title or not.
And honestly? That’s exactly how I think about social media.
Everyone wants the viral moment. The national title. The post that explodes with views and gets picked up by Good Morning America. And sure, those moments are amazing, but they’re not the goal. At least, they shouldn’t be.
The real goal? Sustained success. Showing up, building your brand, and earning trust day after day. You want to be the Gonzaga of social media. You want people to know what they’re getting when they see your content. You want to be consistent, valuable, and reliable, not just a one-hit wonder.
Because here’s the truth: Viral doesn’t pay the bills. Trust does.
Now, okay, the analogy breaks down a little bit. Gonzaga is still chasing that elusive championship (and we’ll be screaming at the TV again next March, believe me). But on social? Consistency is the championship. That’s the game you want to win.
So here’s your game plan:
Don’t post once a month and cross your fingers for a miracle. Build the system. Build the habits. Build the fanbase. Then show up and play your game.
Need help running the right plays? That’s where we come in.
